Cottage Project
This Grade II Listed Cottage was once part of the National Trust Kingston Lacey Estate in Dorset before it was sold to private owners in the mid 1980’s. The current custodians asked me to help with the design of their Master Bedroom and En-suite.
In the Bedroom we softened the look of the chimney by knocking back the harsh breeze blocks and rendering it in a more rustic lime plaster. The fireplace was restored by a local salvage company and we built a new wardrobe for additional storage. Bespoke curtains, cushions and lampshades were made using fabrics from Peony & Sage and Ian Sanderson and a much-loved old piano stool was reupholstered with a smart wool fabric from Linwood. The bedside tables, chest of drawers, paint and wool blanket were all from Neptune. The lamps were from Jim Lawrence. In the En-suite the brief was to include a free-standing bath and walk-in shower so much consideration was given to the best layout allowing for the cob walls and slope of the thatched roof. The washstand was from Neptune and the brassware was from Burlington.
