As I write we have just passed the longest day and the hot, sunny days of summer still seem to be alluding us.

Despite this however, the world of interiors remains as upbeat and forward thinking as ever, and this season is no exception. Just like the Olympics due to be held in the vibrant city of Rio this August, forecasts for this Summer’s trends will have been in the planning for months, regardless of what our climate actually delivers. In a nod to the tropical location, your interiors can be as rich and verdant with a few carefully chosen additions.

The Jungle trend for Spring/Summer 2016 is not one for the faint hearted as it’s hot and exotic. Bold botanicals are mixed with lush palms on wallcoverings and fabrics, while furniture and accessories are made of retro rattan and natural bamboo. The Danish brand Komar produce photographic wall murals and their Into the Wild wallcovering (available at, 368 x 248cm, price 119,90 Euros) takes you straight into the Rain Forest. Featuring a gorgeous array of tropical flora and fauna this mural allows you to step into a verdant wilderness which many can only dream of visiting.

If you’re a fan of our feathered friends without the upkeep though, how about Graham and Green’s Parrot Table Lamp (, £125.00) with its Makrana Emerald shade? Finished in gold, this beautiful bird is both on trend and strikes an elegant pose, casting a sophisticated light across any space.

But seeing as it is the Summer wouldn’t it be fun to add some colour to your outdoor spaces? Take your alfresco dining and family picnics from drab to fab with John Lewis’s beautiful La Selva range which includes palm-printed dining plates and the jewel-coloured Bubble Jug and Tumblers. In their own words “The root of the Amazon lies in the heart of the Peruvian Selva and so natural materials inspire. This curated range of picnic ware pieces combines colour and

bold prints, inspired by jungle flora and fauna which are saturated in a palette which reflects exotic fruits”. With prices starting at only £3.50 for a dining plate you add afford to add some tropical styling to your dining come summer rain or shine.
